Remodeling Shanghai Bund Welcoming Expo

At less than 300 countdown days from the Opening of the Shanghai Expo, the Bund was as busy and hurried as Expo Garden was in Summer 2009. A long wooden wall covered with advertisements surrounded the Bund, and a crowded skyline of super skyscrapers appeared overhead in the Lujiazui Financial District in Pudong. Such magnificent, tall, contemporary buildings as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the Jinmau Tower, the Global Financial Center, the World Financial Tower, Aurora International, etc. formed a new skyline for Shanghai. Dr. Chen, while painting new aspects of pictorial expression, finished this painting in an inspired and spontaneous way, adding the “Red Crown Gate” of the Chinese Pavilion in the sky to indicate the background of such an occasion.
