The great richness of Chinese culture has been cultivated for thousands of years, yet remains fresh and fascinating even up to the present day. One example of this is in Chinese calligraphy, which developed from archaic writings through different style of “Kai”, “Li”, “Zhuan” “Hsin” and “Tsao”, to modern day’s calligraphic creation. The treasures of Chinese calligraphy are as limitless as divine inspiration. In this playful piece, Dr. Chen combines poetry, writing, and painting as a Trinity which embraces and converges the past and present, East and West.

 With childlike freshness, Dr. Chen fills the sky above Beijing (symbolized by a stylized Tiananmen Gate and Temple of Heaven) with the words “Olympics” in beautified Chinese archaic writing as well as colorful, suggestive forms of athletes dancing with energy and excitement. With the Beijing Olympics, the sky of China will manifest the most magnificent display of Chinese culture and tradition for all the world to see!
