Italy Pavilion

The design of the Italy Pavilion is inspired by the children’s game “pick-up sticks,” which is known as “Shanghai” in Italy. The rectangular pavilion has been laced with intersecting lines, comprising 20 functional modules of different shapes, representing Italy’s 20 regions.

Chen has picked up on this theme and so divided his canvas with thick black lines to create different planes, around the four major highlights of the Pavilion: fashion, music, architecture and technology. We see images from Italy’s rich culture such as statues from the Roman Empire , the Colosseum, the Arch of Triumph, a Vespa, an example of Italian fashion (in rainbow colors to express youth , passion and beauty), etc
