Indonesia Pavilion
97 X 130 cm ac 2010/8/24
The exterior of the Indonesia Pavilion is covered with greenish bamboo sticks, symbolizing the synergy between the traditional and contemporary lifestyle of Indonesia. The Pavilion’s four floors, with its stage, auditorium, and multimedia theaters, showcase the natural beauty, society, marine life and traditional culture of this South Pacific country.
Dr. Chen was very impressed with the Baltic Buddha statues, and has made its image along with the bell-shaped tower and mandala the center of this artwork. Surrounding them are images of some of Indonesia’s cultural and natural treasures, such as: traditional puppet shadow, martial arts, weaving, dyeing, the Komodo dragon, mountains, beaches, and even urban highrise buildings. All of these paint a beautiful picture of diverse, yet harmonious development. |
