Picasso’s participation in the “Van Gogh Art Furniture Club” (II)
From Analytical Cubism to Synthetic Cubism, and sometimes back to Classicism, Picasso proliferated into Surrealism and Expressionism through “The Gathering” and “Pulp Collection,” all of which transformed and culminated in the epic “Guernica” paintings, expressing his anger and hatred of the war. During his second visit to the club, he painted a large canvas by overlaying the brutal symbolism of “Guernica” onto the colored “Weeping Woman” (1937).
