Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944)

Kandinsky came to Germany from Russia and, in May 1912, founded “The Blue Rider” with Marc. They published an annual, presented aesthetic theories, and held exhibitions emphasizing the spiritual and symbolic nature of natural and abstract forms.

After publishing his inspiring essay “The Spirituality of Art” in 1912, Kandinsky created a series of “improvisations,” the first non-objective, free-form, free-color lyrical works in art history—pure abstract art. Indeed, he is considered the father of abstract painting.

Invited to join the club, Kandinsky brought some of his representative works, such as “Lyrique (Horseback Riding)” (1912), “Black Traits” (1913), and “Elan Tempéré” (1944), as well as “Yellow, Rose Blue” (1925) floating outside the window.
