Durouse Loutrec (1864-1901) Having met Loutrec in Paris, Van Gogh was advised to visit the south of France, and in turn, Loutrec was invited to join the club. He painted his southern studio red to create the atmosphere of Montmartre. He pasted posters on the walls, affixed an advertisement for the Japanese sofa performance “Divan Japonaise” (1892) to the bed frame, and then sat before the large canvas of the “Dance au Moulin” (1890) to make final touches.
