In summer 2005, a telephone call from a friend in Las Vegas, saying that Las Vegas would celebrate its 100 years in building a special city and the mayor would welcome Dr. Chen’s World Art Campaign to enrich the celebration. So Dr. Chen and Lucia flied to Las Vegas to plan with them and decided not only to have the “Arts for Humanity’s sake” exhibition but to have Dr. Chen living there to produce a series of Las Vegas in his signature style/school of Neo-Iconography.

 The mayor of Las Vegas Mr. Oscar Goodman was so delighted to welcome Dr. Chen’s couple and so happy to host the Centennial Celebration of Las Vegas, a miracle in transforming a wild desert into one of the most visited touristic centers in the world. He expected Dr. Chen to paint a series of “Las Vegas series” to commemorate the Festival besides a World Art Tour Exhibition which opened at the “Bay Desert International” on September 16 with 250 well-dressed visitors from the prosperous community of entertainments and performances. After Dr. Chen visited most of the famous Hotels and the surroundings of Las Vegas, like Red Rock Canyon, Mt. Charleston, Lake Desert Hyatt, and Hoover Dam etc. he accomplished two dozen pieces in acrylic on canvas. Unfortunately something happened which resulted in shipping back all artworks of Dr. Chen in Las Vegas to New York before the Festival. Nevertheless, the Las Vegas series is very interesting and excellent one, waiting to be well used in the future.
