In the artwork “Van Gogh Returns,” the brilliant interior from Matisse’s “The Red Studio” becomes Van Gogh’s home, with Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” decorating the wallpaper and tablecloth. Van Gogh’s wife, a graceful Arlesienne, is preparing a snack for the happy artist returning from painting under the scorching sun. In Dr. Chen’s work, Van Gogh finally receives the family warmth and artistic recognition he desperately longed for in his lonely life. This reflects an art family filled with love. This painting is uniquely featured as a color spread in the book “The Myth of Van Gogh” published by Japan’s TV ASAHI, which details Van Gogh’s life and works. Dr. Chen is known in the art world as the “Heir of Van Gogh.” In “Van Gogh Painting the Temple of Heaven,” Dr. Chen brings Van Gogh to Beijing. In this new piece, Van Gogh’s wife becomes a gentle and beautiful Chinese woman in traditional attire, with the Temple of Heaven visible outside the window.
