Five races racing in Harmony

Here, Dr. Chen illustrates a message of cultural harmony for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Dr. Chen takes Henri Matisse’s dancers and colors them to represent the five races of earth dancing harmoniously. On the lower half of this painting, Beijing is symbolically depicted through the Temple of Heaven and the Tiananmen Gate. As the host this year, China has a magnificent opportunity to lead the way, not only in excelling economically as a country, but also in promoting harmony, reconciliation and peace among all.
