Greece Pavilion (Color)97 X 130 cm ac 2010/9/11-12 Dr. Chen was inspired to paint two versions of his homage to the Greek Pavilion – one in multicolor, and one in a singular cerulean blue. Here we see a beautiful, comprehensive sort of landscape of Greek culture. In the upper left, lies a glimpse of Greece’s famous picturesque hillsides with its white houses and blue roofs; while in the lower left, we see a wedding ceremony, which highlights Greece’s emphasis on the importance of family life. To the right, we see famous Greek monuments in the distance, near a modern business district. In the center, we see moored boats in the harbor, the water gilded with light, and three small islands in the horizon. Greece has more than 7,000 islands actually, and is a birthplace of one of the most important marine cultures in the West. |
