In Dr. Chen’s opinion, the Denmark Pavilion is one of the most well-designed and appealing of the Pavilions at the Shanghai World Expo. Constructed out of two white curving rails, the Pavilion has bicycle ramps from which visitors may borrow bikes and ride up and down gracefully.

This wonderful approach effectively promotes the use of bicycles as an alternative, energy-saving mode of transportation. In addition, bicycle-riding improves physical health and allows for enjoyable sight-seeing – a perfect lifestyle choice for town and city residents.

The Denmark Pavilion’s walls also have bubble-like peep holes from which onlookers can peek inside The delightful figure of their nation’s famous Little Mermaid statue, was moved all the way from Copenhagen Harbor and installed at the Pavilion in Shanghai. In this painting, Chen combines the organic composition and appeal of the three main elements of bikes, statue, and peepholes to artistically interpret Denmark’s remarkable Pavilion.
